Market Report for Thursday 29th July 2010 LOUTH MARKET MONTHLY CASH PRIZE The winning vendors for July 2010 are: S Chapman wins £40 for a Prime Heifer which sold for £1,130 R O Marsh wins £20 for a Ram which sold for £102 The August 2010 competition is now on. This Thursday we had an improved entry of prime cattle on offer with an excellent trade to boot. The total cattle average price for this week was 152.00ppk which still remains above the local market competition and over 12ppk above the National Average (Selby 149.74ppk, York 140.40ppk, Newark 149.28ppk, Melton Mowbray 134.24ppk, National Average 139.17ppk, FWi 2010). Please continue to enter your prime cattle at Louth as our buyers have their weekly requirements to meet and require consistent numbers of clean cattle and young bulls every Thursday. CLEAN CATTLE – Sale Commencing 10.45am The top price per kilogram in the fat cattle ring was for a BB Heifer from N Morley of New Bolingbroke weighing 515kgs and selling for 178.5ppk to L Brown & Son of Lincoln. The top grossing heifer on the day was a Lim x from S Chapman weighing 687kgs which realised £1,130 (164.5ppk). More clean cattle, especially steers, required next week. YOUNG BULLS Another very good entry of some good quality young bulls this week averaged 149.16ppk. The top price per kilogram was a Lincoln Red bull from F Wallis and Sons of Biscathorpe weighing 590kgs and selling for 162.5ppk (£958). The top grossing bull on the day was a Lincoln Red x from EB & A Clark of Minting weighing 699kgs which realised £1,003 (143.5ppk). OTM CATTLE An improved entry of OTM cattle forward this week however demand is still far outweighing supply. The top price cull cow this week was a Lincoln Red 2000 born from RE Needham & Son of Gayton le Wold weighing 748kgs and selling for 108.5ppk (£811). Please more feeding and fit cows next week. The top price store cattle this week were three AA x heifers from WG Hall & Son of South Ormsby which topped at £755 a piece. Ten day old BB x Bull and Heifer calves from NF & F Stones of Wragholme sold very well topping at £265. Many more calves still in demand.
